History...

Denise Dancing was established in 1982. Commencing at the McDonald Hall in Padbury & the Ocean Ridge Recreation Centre.

Due to the success & growth  of the school in 1991 it was obvious that the Denise Dancers needed a home of their very own, therefore Miss Denise opened Joondalup’s very first dance studio.

Over the years Denise Dancing School has always strived to stay at the forefront in the dance industry both in its facilities & training methods.

Now celebrating our 37th year DDS invites you to become part of the continuing success story at "the original & still the best dance school in Joondalup".

Teachers...

School Principal: Miss Denise


Miss Denise trained in the United Kingdom under the guidance of Miss Sheila Groom and Miss Marilyn Harris. Miss Denise studied all genres of dance including  Ballet, Tap,Modern , Greek & Natural Movement and National. Examinations taken were with the RAD, ISTD, NATD & IDTA. Miss Denise achieved many accreditations in both exams & competitions, leading to  qualifications in the 'Royal Academy of Dancing' and 'Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance' syllabi.


Miss Denise then  danced professionally for many years as a principal dancer, appearing with many of the UK 's top international stars. Miss Denise's impressive list of credits include lead dancer, principle soloist and choreographer.

 

Miss Anja (Junior Ballet & Adult's Classical)

 

Miss Anja’s dance training started in South Africa at just 4 years old & after migrating to Australia then began dancing at Denise Dancing School in 2005 and has been there ever since, with Ms Denise being both her mentor and dance teacher for the past decade.
 
During this period Miss Anja has completed all RAD Graded & Vocational Examinations usually gaining Distinction, & acquiring the highest ballet marks in her grades in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2013. 
 
In 2013 Miss Anja’s name was placed on the Denise Dancing School School Shield as the highest achiever for that year. 
 
In addition to Miss Anja’s dance accreditations she is presently studying at the University of Western Australia Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology. Including modules in Children’s development , a great assist to a children’s dance teacher.

Mr Clive (Manager)

 

Clive has had an interest in Dance since an early age its no wonder he therefore married into the Dance Industry.

Clive supervises the Front Office & Uniform Shop and his charming disposition will always be ready to assist students, and parents.

Miss Stephanie ( Hip Hop Specialist)

 

Miss Stephanie started to learn to dance at the tender age of just two years old. During her training Stephanie studied tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, broadway, commercial jazz and Spanish. Stephanie gained exam successes in RAD, Glen Wood Tap and CSTD.

 

At age 13, Stephanie started to help out with the younger students & this is when she started to develop her love for teaching. Stephanie’s leadership  & dance skills were further recognised as she was voted as the  Dance Captain of Prendiville Catholic College's Dance Company.

 

​Stephanie is inspired by the love of dance & her passion to teach encouraged her to successfully complete her Teaching Certificate with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance. Gaining this qualification gave Miss Stephanie the tools to  continue to build and develop performance qualities in the next generation of dancers.

Christopher Hill (Guest Artist)

 

Christopher Hill trained at the Australian Ballet School. He joined the Australian Ballet in 2001 and has danced with the Norwegian National Ballet, The Royal Ballet of Flanders Belgium, and West Australian Ballet performing numerous featured and soloist roles within the classical and contemporary repertoire.

 

Christopher has worked first-hand with many of the world’s leading choreographers, appeared in many international arts festivals, and danced in many of the world’s fabled theatres. As a choreographer, he has created 11 original choreographic works, many of those with his own music and costume designs. His original works The Clearest Light and Ghost Gum were presented by West Australian Ballet at the Perth International Arts Festival: The Clearest Light received a nomination for Outstanding Choreography at the 2018 Australian Dance Awards.

 

After retiring from the stage, Christopher received a Churchill Fellowship which enable him to travel the world during 2019 to meet with many of the world’s leading dance companies, choreographers, and composers. He is currently a freelance choreographer, Teaching Artist and Youth Ensemble choreographer for West Australian Ballet. 

Miss Hannah (Contemporary)

 

Miss Hannah joins Denise Dancing school as a highly  trained dancer, having studied with some of Australia’s top dance professionals. Originally from Bunbury, Miss Hannah studied RAD Ballet, Contemporary, Neo Classical, & Lyrical. Miss Hannah has completed all RAD Grades & Vocational Levels with outstanding results.

Presently Miss Hannah is furthering her studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Mis Hannah has many performance accreditations to her name including  success in competitions, solo performances in Ombre & performing with Perth City Ballet just to name a few.

 

However Miss Hannah's real passion is teaching, from an early age Hannah realised this was her vocation. With her inspiring & encouraging manner Miss Hannah's classes are artist inspiring, & most rewarding. Miss Hannah loves to choreograph & feels most rewarded to see her students put her thoughts and ideas into movement.

Miss Emily (Musical Teacher)

 

Miss Emily is an approachable and committed teacher who is keen to share her passion for Dance and all things performance. For her, creating a comfortable class environment is her goal as she believes it is the best atmosphere to encourage and nurture young Dancers & Performers.

Haling from Brisbane where she grew up and fell in love with the arts, Emily moved to Perth in 2018 to study a Bachelor of Performing Arts at WAAPA (Western Academy of Performing Arts). Not only is Emily a graduate of WAAPA she also holds Certificate IV in Musical Theatre.

 

Before making the move Emily studied 2 years of Full-time Dance and Musical Theatre at Brisbane Academy of Musical Theatre. While in Brisbane Emily began teaching and upon moving to Perth, realised that teaching had become an important part of her life. Some of Emilys most rewarding experiences to date are having the opportunity to teach Musical Theatre &  Jazz in Shanghai (2018), working as a Dance Captain and mentor on the mass ensemble of the national tour of  ‘Grease the Arena Experience’ (2017) and Choreographing the musical ‘Miss Westralia’ to critical acclaim and a sold out season (2019), which before Covid, was due to tour to 9 venues in 2020. When Emily is not teaching she still works as a Performer both onstage and screen.

 

Miss Ros (Acrobatics)

 

Miss Ros has a love for acrobatics and performing & has experienced a lot of pleasure from the use of expression through movement. Miss Ros prides herself on the high  standards she has set in her teaching skills, always ensuring correct technique whilst sharing with her students the joy of achieving that next skill. Her kind & encouraging manner ensures all students reach their full potential at their own pace.

 

Mis Ros started her own training at aged 9 enjoying Acrobatics, Gymnastics , Ballroom, Ballet & Jazz. Miss Ros  is a  highly awarded teacher in Acrobatics, Gymnastics, & also Dance, but her love of Acrobatics is what makes her that exceptional teacher for this discipline.

Mis Ros has also has worked professionally and enjoys bringing this love of performance combined with  good technique to her students.

The Studio...

Denise Dancing has 2 studios both fully fitted with sprung floors, ballet barres, wall to wall mirrors, and in house video systems.

Other facilities include change rooms, students lounge, parents waiting area, ample parking, plus our office & uniform shop.

We are situated in Joondalup just 5 Minutes walk from the Joondalup Bus & Rail Station. We also offer ample car parking.

We also have special discount packages for multiple classes.                                                                                    Once enrolled in a class your place is automatically reserved for your for Term 1 to Term 4, 2021 .

To cancel your place please advise in writing NO LATER than week 6 of the previous term.

This timetable is subject to change depending on enrolments.

Ages are only given as a guideline Miss Denise will ensure you are placed in the correct level for your age & ability. Students enrolling in DDS give permission for photographs & filming to be used both for coaching in class & advertising purposes.
