Denise Dancing was established in 1982. Commencing at the McDonald Hall in Padbury & the Ocean Ridge Recreation Centre.
Due to the success & growth of the school in 1991 it was obvious that the Denise Dancers needed a home of their very own, therefore Miss Denise opened Joondalup’s very first dance studio.
Over the years Denise Dancing School has always strived to stay at the forefront in the dance industry both in its facilities & training methods.

School Principal: Miss Denise
Miss Denise trained in the United Kingdom under the guidance of Miss Sheila Groom and Miss Marilyn Harris. Miss Denise studied all genres of dance including Ballet, Tap,Modern , Greek & Natural Movement and National. Examinations taken were with the RAD, ISTD, NATD & IDTA. Miss Denise achieved many accreditations in both exams & competitions, leading to qualifications in the 'Royal Academy of Dancing' and 'Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance' syllabi.
Miss Denise then danced professionally for many years as a principal dancer, appearing with many of the UK 's top international stars. Miss Denise's impressive list of credits include lead dancer, principle soloist and choreographer.
Miss Anja (Junior Ballet & Assistant Ballet Teacher)
Miss Anja’s dance training started in South Africa at just 4 years old & after migrating to Australia then began dancing at Denise Dancing School in 2005 and has been there ever since, with Ms Denise being both her mentor and dance teacher for the past decade.
During this period Miss Anja has completed all RAD Graded & Vocational Examinations usually gaining Distinction, & acquiring the highest ballet marks in her grades in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
In 2013 Miss Anja’s name was placed on the Denise Dancing School School Shield as the highest achiever for that year.
In addition to Miss Anja’s dance accreditations she is presently studying at the University of Western Australia Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology. Including modules in Children’s development , a great assist to a children’s dance teacher.

Miss Jacquelyn (Musical Theatre & Voice Coach)
Miss Jacquelyn began her performing career at Denise Dancing School at just 4 years old studying all genres of dance and gaining many accreditation's in both examinations & performances. Jacquelyn has completed her Bachelor of Contemporary Arts at WAPPA and ECU and spent 12 months at Walt Disney World, Florida experiencing the performing arts with one of the world’s best entertainment companies.
With over 15 years of singing and acting experiences and performances, she is no stranger to the stage and has an infectious passion for the arts.
Mr Clive (Manager)
Clive has had an interest in Dance since an early age its no wonder he therefore married into the Dance Industry.
Clive supervises the Front Office & Uniform Shop and his charming disposition will always be ready to assist students, and parents.
Miss Stephanie ( Hip Hop Specialist)
Stephanie Smith started to dance at Dance In Perspective at age two, where she continued to dance for 19 years. She trained in multiple genres including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, broadway, commercial jazz and spanish. Throughout her training Stephanie sat exams through RAD, Glen Wood Tap and CSTD.
At age 13, Stephanie began as an assistant teacher with Dance In Perspective, where she trained and developed her love for teaching dance. As she progressed through her teacher training she also was voted Dance Captain at Prendiville Catholic College, for their Dance Company.
In 2013 Stephanie sat the first of her Performance Examinations through CSTD, where she received high marks for all three of her dances, receiving the 'Performer's Shield.' In 2015, Stephanie successfully completed her Teaching Certificate with the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance, specialising in Tap. In 2016 Stephanie completed her final performance examination in CSTD, the Gold Cross receiving exceptional results in all three of her tap pieces for this examination.
Stephanie now teaches mainly in her favourite genres; tap, jazz and hip hop, where she can focus on her love of rhythmic patterns and where she can continue to build and develop performance qualities in the next generation of dancers.
Christopher Hill (Guest Artist)
Christopher Hill trained at the Australian Ballet School. He joined the Australian Ballet in 2001 and has danced with the Norwegian National Ballet, The Royal Ballet of Flanders Belgium, and West Australian Ballet performing numerous featured and soloist roles within the classical and contemporary repertoire.
Christopher has worked first-hand with many of the world’s leading choreographers, appeared in many international arts festivals, and danced in many of the world’s fabled theatres. As a choreographer, he has created 11 original choreographic works, many of those with his own music and costume designs. His original works The Clearest Light and Ghost Gum were presented by West Australian Ballet at the Perth International Arts Festival: The Clearest Light received a nomination for Outstanding Choreography at the 2018 Australian Dance Awards.
After retiring from the stage, Christopher received a Churchill Fellowship which enable him to travel the world during 2019 to meet with many of the world’s leading dance companies, choreographers, and composers. He is currently a freelance choreographer, Teaching Artist and Youth Ensemble choreographer for West Australian Ballet.
Hannah Phillips (Contemporary Specialist)
Miss Hannah is a highly credited dancer & teacher, whose early years of training followed the RAD (ballet )& ISTD (modern, jazz & contemporary) Syllabi. Whilst studying at the Academy Ballet in Sydney, NSW in 2014 Hannah gained her Diploma of Elite Performance (Dance) & RAD Advanced 2.
Realising her future was dance in 2015 Hannah successfully auditioned & began her training at the highly acclaimed WESTERN AUSTRALIA ACADEMY OF THE PERFORMING ARTS, PERTH WA. During this time Hannah trained & performed with Australia's top dance teachers & choreographers.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) in 2018 Hannah was accepted into the WAAPA Bachelor of Arts (Dance) Honours program and became a member of the LINK Dance Company. During this time Hannah performed all over Australia & Europe with the Link Dance Company.
Hannah has many choreographic credits to her name & with this and her passion for teaching we are thrilled to have her as our specialist Contemporary Teacher.
Denise Dancing has 2 studios both fully fitted with sprung floors, ballet barres, wall to wall mirrors, and in house video systems.
Other facilities include change rooms, students lounge, parents waiting area, ample parking, plus our office & uniform shop.
We are situated in Joondalup just 5 Minutes walk from the Joondalup Bus & Rail Station. We also offer ample car parking.
